Kind Words and Testimonials

Meghan B.

It was an absolute joy to work with Eric to shoot our 3-generation family portrait, which we also used for our Christmas cards. Several of our friends and family have said that ours is their favorite card of the year! They worked with us for two hours in several outdoor sets, ending with a stunning sunset backdrop. They were able to capture beautiful, timeless memories even in the wind and chill The clear communication and responsive, highly professional service were greatly appreciated.

FAQ

How does the process work?

The photography session process is designed to be smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Here’s a general outline of how it typically works:

1. Initial Consultation
Let's chat! This is our chance to discuss your needs, preferences, and any fun ideas you have for the shoot. We'll also cover location, timing, and any particular themes or styles you love.

We'll go over the package options and what's included in each to find the best fit for your needs.

2. Booking and Preparations
Once you decide to proceed, we'll set a date and time for the session. A deposit may be required to secure the booking.

Please see the "Preparation" page for further details on what to wear and how to prepare for a photo shoot and how to get everyone (including kids and pets) ready for their close-up.

3. The Photo Shoot
On the day of the shoot, I'll arrive early to set up and scout the perfect spots.

The session itself will be relaxed and fun. I'll guide you through poses and capture a mix of both posed and candid shots. No rush, just lots of laughs and beautiful moments.

4. Post-Processing
After the session, I'll select the best images and work my magic to enhance the photos.

This process usually takes a few weeks, after which you'll receive a gallery of gorgeous images to review.

5. Viewing and Ordering
You'll have the chance to view the final images in an online gallery. Here, you can pick your favorites based on the package you chose, and order any extra prints or digital copies.

Depending on the package, you might also select images for a photo album or other custom goodies.

6. Delivery
Once you've made your selections, I'll prepare the final products. Digital images are usually sent via download link, while prints and other physical goodies will be delivered to your doorstep.

You'll receive everything ready to display or gift to family and friends.
This fun and easy process ensures you'll have beautiful, lasting memories to cherish forever!

What happens after everything is delivered?

Follow-up:

After everything is delivered, I’ll follow up to ensure you’re satisfied with the final products and service. This is also a great time to provide feedback or discuss future photo needs.
Throughout the process, I aim to keep communication open and ensure you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way. If you have any questions or additional requests, I’m here to accommodate and ensure your photography experience is delightful and rewarding.

We don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?

Absolutely, it's completely normal to feel a bit uneasy in front of the camera, and you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. A good photographer will help you feel more comfortable and guide you through the process with easy-to-follow directions and support. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. Pre-Session Consultation:
This is a great time to discuss your concerns with the photographer. They can explain how the session will go, what you can expect, and answer any questions you might have.

2. Guidance:
Throughout the session, your photographer will guide you on how to pose, where to look, and what to do. You don’t need to be a professional; just be yourselves, and your photographer will take care of the rest.

3. Relaxed Pace:
The session doesn't have to be rushed. It’s often laid-back, allowing you plenty of time to get comfortable and settle into the process.

4. Engagement:
Some photographers use conversation or small activities during the shoot to elicit natural expressions and interactions. This can help take your mind off the camera and capture genuine moments.

5. Trust the Process:
Professional photographers have experience in making people look their best. They know how to use lighting, angles, and settings to enhance each photo.

Remember, the goal is to capture the essence of you and your family, imperfections and all—that's what makes the photos so special and uniquely yours.

How should we dress for our family session?

For a family photo shoot, its best to coordinate outfits without exactly matching, creating a cohesive look that enhances the visual appeal of the photos. Here are some tips:

1. Choose a Color Palette:
Select 2-3 main colors for your outfits, and mix in neutral tones like black, gray, or denim. This creates balance and allows the family members to complement each other without being too uniform (avoid uniformity please).

2. Avoid Loud Patterns:
Big, bold patterns can distract from faces in the photographs. If you do choose patterns, make sure they are not overwhelming and only one person wears a patterned outfit while others wear solid colors.

3. Consider the Location and Season:
Dress appropriately for the environment and weather. Use colors and patterns that do not completely blend into the environment. For outdoor shoots in a natural setting, earth tones work well. For urban settings, richer colors and layers might look best.

4. Texture and Layers:
Adding different textures and layers can add depth to your photos. Think cardigans, belts, scarves, or hats. These can also be easily added or removed to vary the pictures.

5. Classic Over Trendy:
Choose classic styles over very trendy clothes to ensure your photos look timeless. Avoid logos or text on clothing, as these can be distracting and date your photos.

6. Comfort is Key:
Make sure everyone is comfortable in their outfits and that the clothes fit well. This will help everyone look relaxed and happy in the photos.

7. Plan Ahead:
Lay out all the outfits together before the shoot to ensure they all look good together. Adjust if something seems out of place.

These guidelines will help create beautiful, cohesive family portraits that you'll cherish for years to come.

How many pictures will we receive?

This depends on the package you choose. The basic package will include 15-20 professionally edited digital images with an option to purchase additional images or prints.

What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?

The best time for a newborn photo session is usually when the baby is between 5 to 14 days old. During this time, newborns tend to sleep more deeply and curl up naturally into those sweet, cozy poses. They're also generally less fussy and easier to adjust into various positions.

Here are a few tips for scheduling and planning a newborn session:

1. Timing:
Try to start the session when the baby is most likely to be asleep, perhaps right after a feeding. Mornings are often ideal as babies tend to be sleepier and calmer after a good night's rest.

2. Environment:
Keep the room warm and comfortable to help the newborn stay asleep. Soft background music or white noise can also help soothe the baby.

3. Flexibility:
Be prepared to be flexible with timing, as newborns may need extra feedings, diaper changes, or cuddles during the session.

4. Preparation:
Encourage parents to feed the baby right before the session to ensure the baby is happy and sleepy. It’s also useful to have extra baby supplies on hand, like diapers, wipes, and blankets.

5. Safety:
Always prioritize the baby's safety and comfort during the shoot. Use soft, clean props and ensure all posing is gentle and secure.

Planning the session during this early window can make a significant difference in how smoothly it goes and the quality of the photos captured.
